Dr. Gil Robinson
Dr Gil Robinson is an accomplished researcher, Lecturer in HRM; Research Methods and Organizational Behaviour and a practising Consultant. He specializes in enabling organizations to change their cultural perspectives, especially in relation to Managing Racial Diversity and implementing Equal Opportunity Policies and practices. Gil has a first degree in Chemistry, a MA (Distinction) in HRM and a PhD in Human Resources and Employment Studies. He is a qualified coach, a Certificated Trainer the Trainer and a Level 5 ILM in Leadership. He was an Associate Dean at the Royal Docks Business School (University of East London) where he had responsibilities for Research and International Affairs.
He combined this role with his Consultancies with clients such as The Metropolitan Police, The British Home Office, numerous London Local Authorities, NGOs, Charities and other private sector organizations. He also provided advise to the UK Labour Party (whilst in Government) by being a member of the Stephen Lawrence Committee – The body which was instrumental in changing the Institutionally Racist Metropolitan Police Service (The Police Service for London), which bundled the investigation into the murder of a black teenager, because of the institution’s racist attitudes and practices.
Gil has produced numerous conference papers and publications on Race and Racism in organizations. He has also conducted investigation into racist practices in organizations and produced research papers on how organizations can successfully change their racist cultural practices. Notwithstanding the foregoing, he has written numerous policies for organizations who wished to change HRM practices and the organization’s culture, especially in the management and implementation of Equal Opportunities and Managing Racial Diversity strategies.
